Have you ever wished you could have more conversations with other school librarians? This group is for you! In LiNC, you will be among friends. We will foster a supportive, collaborative, joyful community of school librarians in Monroe One and 2 BOCES and the Genesee Valley BOCES regions. Throughout this twenty-week Schoology course, some discussions will be K-12 and others will be split by grade level. We will also host periodic Zoom meetings where we can put faces to names and have live discussions. This work will be asynchronous, with weekly discussions and resources posted by the facilitators, as well as opportunities for you to set the topic. Each week should take only about a half hour, so you have the opportunity to earn a half credit of CTLE per week. You can participate as much or as little as you would like, and credits will be granted based upon how much you choose to participate. Since capacity varies throughout the year, we understand and expect that not everyone will be able to join in every discussion. We hope this will be a place to share advice and resources, to ask questions, to validate your experiences, and to learn from each other. The Zoom meetings will be posted separately. Program: Teacher Center Catalog

Audience: Teachers, Administrators

Dates: 4/14/2024

The course also provides opportunities for educators to promote joy, opportunities for healing, and growth in self-awareness for themselves as educators in an increasingly negative world. This learning can be helpful to help overcome exhaustion and/or burnout, and also provide a sense of purpose. Activities and strategies in this book can be used as lessons and activities for personal growth, and in the classroom. Educators will be given suggestions for ways to help students evaluate their own thought and speech patterns and become kindness cultivators. The real life stories and easy to implement strategies and language can help begin a kindness and positivity boomerang effect that can radiate beyond our classrooms and environments where we implement our learning. Educators will read the book (2 chapters per week) and complete activities in Schoology at their own pace, asynchronously. There will be one Google Form check-in at the halfway point to provide the instructor with feedback so adjustments can be made, if necessary. A course evaluation will be completed at the end.
