This two-day training provides an in-depth overview of Structured Teaching, an evidence-based approach designed to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in educational settings. Participants will learn how clear structure, predictable routines, and visual supports can enhance student understanding, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote independence.
The session will focus on practical classroom strategies, including the physical organization of learning environments, visual schedules, work systems, task organization, sensory processing, and sensory profiles. Educators will explore how to effectively implement these supports across academic instruction, transitions, and daily routines.
In addition to learning foundational concepts and strategies, participants will have time to collaborate with classroom teams/each other and apply their learning to plan for the upcoming school year. Teams will be encouraged to develop classroom structures, visual supports, and implementation plans that can be put into practice.
Emphasis will be placed on realistic, easy-to-implement strategies that support student engagement and success in both inclusive and specialized educational settings. This training is intended primarily for new elementary staff seeking foundational knowledge of Structured Teaching and sensory processing.
