EDU 5550.02/Research Seminar in Special Education and Literacy

This on campus course should be taken near the end of the teacher-candidates sequence of courses as it draws upon a broad understanding of disability, laws that govern the education of children with special educational needs and instructional strategies. The course participant will be required to expand upon their current level of knowledge by investigating literature reviews of contemporary data to develop either a research project or develop a grant that would enhance the quality of instruction and life, for individuals with disabilities. Ethical considerations with regard to research and education of vulnerable populations will be emphasized. The purpose of the course is also to make students more aware of their social responsibility and the need to continue as life long learners in working with individuals where current strategies for intervention are constantly emerging. This course is for fully matriculated students only. This course runs from Jan. 22 through May 6, 2020. Please follow the dates on webadvisor for this course.
