Day #1- Research shows that schools that successfully engage families find that their students earn higher grades, score higher on tests, develop better social skills, and are more likely to graduate. Educational Organizations (EOs) need to understand the tenets of family engagement, common barriers faced by families, and ways in which family engagement relates to equity. This PD references research and best practices on family engagement, including building meaningful, trusting, and culturally responsive relationships with families. Day #2- Introduce educators to concepts of communication and culture that impact the ways educators and educational organizations (EOs) interact with families. Overall, the aim is to ensure that educators are mindful with how they communicate with parents, guardians, and families to ensure that educational sites are culturally responsive and welcoming. *Participants will receive Zoom log-in information 24 hours prior via registered Frontline email address. 8. Alternatives to Suspension Part 2 (Virtual) UPDATED

The issue of in and out-of-school suspensions of all students, including students with disabilities, who demonstrate escalated classroom behavior, has become controversial and divisive leaving many staff members at odds. This two-day training package, designed for building level administrators and teachers, is intended to help participants understand that exclusionary practices have significant short and long-term negative effects on academic, social-emotional, health and wellness, and family outcomes of students and that there are alternative approaches to discipline that lead to improved student outcomes. Participants will ground themselves in a common understanding of suspension, removal, and discipline, as well as influences, impacts, policies, and procedures that contribute to the on-going suspension crisis in schools today. Throughout the multiple day training, participants will learn and explore effective research-based strategies for responding to student behavior and appropriate alternatives to suspension, which have significantly fewer negative impacts on student or family outcomes.

12. Science of Reading and the Role of Writing (VIRTUAL)

As reinforced by the NYSED Literacy Briefs, writing plays an integral role in building a student's literacy skills. Participants will examine the writing workshop model, look at daily routines that are purposeful, engaging and teach writing explicitly, as well as look at how sentence expansion introduces students to note-taking. Some key takeaways from this session will include: assessment checkpoints, and tools for supporting the composition of simple and compound sentences.

This virtual training series of workshops will consist of five (5) live Zoom sessions. Modules 1 and 6 will be asynchronous work that you will complete independently. Other modules will include pre-work activities. Pre-work activities must be completed before the corresponding module. The Module 1 asynchronous work must be completed before Session 1. The Module 6 asynchronous work must be completed before Session 4.

14. Mentor Teacher Training - First Time (12 hours)

This 12 hour, in-person training is designed as a complete overview for staff who are interested in serving as mentors for new educators. We will unpack the multifaceted role of a mentor, as well as strategies to support new teachers as they develop into instructional problem-solvers and decision-makers, including recognizing the different types of needs new teachers have, structures for effectively using your time together, effective communication, and relationship building. Over our two days together, you will have the opportunity to collaborate other educators who are interested in mentoring, make plans for how you will approach your mentorship in the coming year, and practice applying the strategies discussed.

Working with Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) entails understanding the unique and challenging experiences that directly impact their learning and academic success. 19. Personal Finance Education

Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, districts are required to implement Personal Finance Education (PFE) in grades 5-12 in compliance with the March 2026 amendment to part 100.2 of the Commissioner's Regulation. In this workshop, we will review the PFE Learning Objectives at each grade band and explore the state provided resources with the goal of providing a curated list of resources and tools that will support your students in meeting the objectives by the end of the indicated grade band. 22. Introduction to Building Thinking Classrooms

This full-day, in-person workshop will introduce participants to practices from Peter Liljedahl's Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics. You may have seen math teachers having students stand up at whiteboards around their room. Learn more about the research behind those techniques and how they can lead to students collaborating and thinking critically about mathematics. Participants will experience tasks as students (wear comfortable clothes and shoes), discuss the impact of these strategies on student thinking, and troubleshoot common barriers that come up with implementation.

24. State Performance Plan (SPP) Indicator 13: Secondary Transition - Key Concepts of the Compliance Review

The purpose of this training is to review key concepts of the SPP Indicator 13 compliance review to ensure districts are developing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students (aged 15 and over) that meet SPP Indicator 13 compliance requirements. Districts are required to complete this training the school year prior to undergoing this review.

During this one-hour virtual training, participants will identify, understand, and apply key components of State Performance Plan (SPP) Indicator 13.

Jared Cooney Horvath's provocatively titled book shines a skeptical (blue?) light on the current universality of screens in education. "Far from doubling learning in half the time, digital tools appear to be doing the opposite: halving learning in double the time,” Horvath writes in his introduction. Managing student behavior outside of the general classroom could pose unique challenges for special area teachers. • Identify the components needed to develop and write measurable postsecondary goals
• Understand the relationship between transition needs and the development of annual goals to support the student toward achieving the postsecondary goals

61. Threat Assessment Training Initial 7 - Hour CSTAG (Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines) Training

This training is designed for school-based threat assessment teams to develop effective processes within their schools, districts, and communities. Participants will explore key principles of threat assessment - such as identifying concerning behaviors, communication, and follow-up - and receive hands-on training in the evidence-based Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) developed by Dr. Dewey Cornell. Teams will apply these concepts to real-world scenarios through collaborative exercises and case studies. Each school triage team should include at least an administrator, a mental health professional, and a school resource officer or law enforcement representative. This combined training prepares designated staff to serve as Zone Leaders while actively developing and refining school-specific zone maps using on-site floor plans.
