1. Fundations® Level K/1 - A program from the Wilson Language Corporation

"Fundations research-based approach and extensive program materials allow K-3 teachers to confidently present a carefully structured reading and spelling curriculum using engaging, multisensory techniques. It is implemented as a phonics and spelling supplement or the word study block to the core literacy program.

Prevention Model (Tier 1)
The Standard Lesson is provided to all students in the general education classroom (as part of the word study block of the core language arts program) for 30 minutes daily.
-- If Fundations is already provided in a Tier 1, whole-class setting, this strategic intervention consists of double dose lessons for an additional 30 minutes 3-5 times per week.
-- If Fundations is not provided in a Tier 1, whole-class setting, this strategic intervention must include the daily standard lesson plus the double dose lesson, totaling 60-minute lessons 3-5 times per week.

AUDIENCE: Regular education teachers, teachers with inclusive settings and teachers of students with disabilities. Also appropriate for Literacy Coaches, Reading Specialists, Literacy Coordinators/Supervisors, Curriculum Directors, Administrators. This event is not relevant to short-term and day-to-day substitutes and paraprofessionals."


2. Wilson Reading System Introductory Course

Meeting Times: 11/18, 11/19, 11/20 8:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Location: Virtual

"Formally known as the Wilson Reading System (WRS) Introductory Course, this 3-day workshop presents multi-sensory structured language principles and techniques of the WRS program. It provides hands-on and practical training to teachers implementing the WRS Intervention Model. The Wilson Reading System is now in its 4th Edition. This new edition has been updated extensively and the workshop will focus on using the new edition.

The training includes: Reading research; 10 Critical Points of the WRS; Principles of language structure; Teaching with direct, multi-sensory methods; Program implementation; Group lesson instruction; Blocks 1, 2, and 3 of the WRS Lesson Plan modeling and practice; Student placement; Scheduling; Keys for success and pacing; Progress monitoring; Practice using Wilson Assessments.

Workshop fees do not include the Wilson Reading System Introductory Set. Participants may bring their own introductory set with them or order a 4th Edition Set directly from Wilson Language. Please note: If you have attended the WRS Introductory Workshop in the past five years or are Level 1 certified, you do not need to attend this training.
