2. IMS Lending Library Certification Training

Dates: 7/8/2026

Participants will have the opportunity and time to explore a variety of Computer Science tools and equipment available in the IMS Lending Library, and interact with other educators to brainstorm hands-on classroom uses for integrating Computer Science and STEELS standards. This hands-on session will provide certification for the IMS Lending Materials which includes the StarLab portable planetariums, the AR/VR mobile device kits, and the TransfrVR headsets.

3. The Foundations of Student-Centered Learning

The SCL professional learning series begins with this 2-day 'Foundations of Student-Centered Learning' workshop. Attendees will explore personalized strategies for small group, independent, and collaborative work, departing with practical tools for immediate application tailored for their specific grade level and content area.

We are thrilled to welcome featured speakers Thomas C. Murray and John Meehan!

Tom is a nationally recognized keynote speaker, current Director of Innovation for Future Ready Schools, and former Bucks County district leader, Murray is known for blending authenticity with practical insight to help educators cultivate a thriving school district culture and revitalize classroom practices.

John is a professional learning designer whose work aligns closely with the vision for Pennsylvania Student‐Centered Learning-emphasizing active participation, meaningful choice, real‐world challenge, and environments where learners collaborate, problem‐solve, and take the lead in showing what they know.

This 3-hour workshop will assist educators design engaging learning experiences using Discovery Education Experience (DEX). Participants will leave with a Studio Board portfolio within DEX that is aligned to a current unit or lesson, including strategies, curated resources, assessment ideas, and real world connections all available through the tools and content available within their platform. This workshop is ideal for district technology leaders to develop new strategies for sharing the vast collection of Discovery Education resources with their district educators.

16. Transitioning to a Personalized Learning Environment: Advancing the Rotational Model of Student-Centered Learning

This is a two-day workshop delivered over the course of several months. Day one focuses on professional learning, providing participants with practical strategies and actionable steps to implement a more personalized learning environment. Day two serves as a follow-up session, where participants will reflect on their experiences, debrief successes, and address challenges encountered during implementation.
This workshop is designed for K-12 educators who already use an effective rotational model. Educators who already differentiate effectively and are ready to deepen their practice into personalized learning, with a particular focus on shifting from teacher-designed differentiation to learner-informed pathways that elevate student voice and agency within, or beyond, a rotational model. Participants typically already use flexible grouping, scaffolds, varied resources, and formative assessment to guide instruction, and may be implementing a rotational model or other blended learning approaches. Building on that foundation, the session explores what comes next: developing learner profiles, using learning progressions, designing purposeful student choice, and creating learning paths or playlist structures, along with the management routines needed to implement and sustain these practices effectively.

19. Ensuring Digital Accessibility

This workshop will equip district classroom teachers, administrators, and district staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to comply with the new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations regarding digital accessibility. With the adoption of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA as the standard for state and local government websites, including school districts, this training will ensure that all digital resources - such as school publications, learning management systems, and online instructional materials - are accessible to all individuals. Participants will explore the core principles of WCAG 2.1 and learn practical strategies for creating and maintaining accessible digital content throughout their school district. It is recommended that district teams of (2 - 4 people) attend together to examine aspects of sample district compliance roadmaps and to develop individual district action plans.

Workshop cost is $149 per person for IU13 districts and $500 for groups of 4 or more from the same IU13 district. $199 for non-IU13 districts and $750 for groups of 4 or more from the same non-IU13 district.

20. Engineering byDesign (EbD) Workshop

This is a hands-on workshop where you will dive into the Engineering byDesign curricular resources. Supported by a PDE grant, these resources are available to PA educators at NO COST.
During this session, you will navigate the digital platform, experience a lesson from a student's perspective, and crosswalk alignment to the STEELS standards. Most importantly, you will have dedicated time to explore and customize resources specific to your grade level, ensuring you leave ready to implement high-quality, inquiry-based Engineering byDesign curricular resources immediately.

22. Sphero Workshop - The Integrated Tech of Engineering byDesign (EbD)

This comprehensive workshop offers a hands-on exploration of the Sphero Blueprint Engineering continuum and the Engineering byDesign (EbD) ecosystem. In the morning, you will experience the vertical progression of mechanical and electrical engineering, starting with foundational concepts in Snap and scaling up to middle school and then high school level complexity using Blueprint Engineering kits. The afternoon shifts focus to advanced Engineering Design with BOLT+ and concludes with "open-sandbox" time to explore the full suite of EbD technical resources.

*Note: The focus of this workshop is Sphero, and not EbD. All Sphero tools presented are integrated into EbD, and area available to borrow through the IU13 Lending Library.

In the morning, you will experience the vertical progression of mechanical and electrical engineering, starting with foundational concepts in Snap and scaling up to middle school and then high school level complexity using Blueprint Engineering kits. The afternoon shifts focus to advanced Engineering Design with BOLT+ and concludes with "open-sandbox" time to explore the full suite of EbD technical resources.

In this 2-day workshop, attendees will engage in various instructional activities and strategies with direct applications in classrooms including active learning strategies and learner-centered techniques.
