This series is a modular, multi-tier program, designed for teachers, school leaders, and district administrators to strengthen their capacity to understand and engage with AI in the context of learning and instruction.
This tier addresses the practical and ethical considerations for educators using AI.
AI for Professional Practice
1. Use AI as a tool to support tasks, such as lesson planning, curriculum development, or parent communication.
2. Utilize AI to analyze and deconstruct learning standards, identifying key skills and progressions of knowledge.
3. Draft standards-aligned projects or assessments brainstorming with AI.
4. Apply prompt engineering principles (e.g., providing context, specifying a role) to improve responses.
5. Refine prompts through an iterative process to achieve desired results.
Ethics and Responsible Use
6. Define plagiarism in the context of AI and distinguish ethical vs. unethical AI use.
7. Compare AI's challenges to historical technology shifts. (e.g., the use of calculators)
8. Examine limits of AI detection tools and alternatives for academic integrity.
9. Develop criteria for appropriate (or inappropriate) use of AI when entering data or information into AI models, considering student privacy and institutional security.
