4. RECOVS Mental Health Education Leaders Partnership (MHELP) Meetings

Audience: District's mental health leadership teams include district leaders, school leaders, teachers, school-based mental health professionals, and any other stakeholders districts identify to lead the work.

Mental health leadership teams from SWBOCES's RECOVS Mental Health Grant Consortium will meet to discuss and collaborate around grant implementation, including:

- Social-Emotional Learning
- MTSS-i (including systems & structures and data & assessment)
- professional learning
- budget & logistics
- other grant-related considerations

The meetings will occur monthly, alternating between hourly virtual meetings and half-day in-person meetings at 450 Mamaroneck Ave, Harrison, NY - 3rd floor.

District MTSSi teams from SWBOCES's RECOVS Mental Health Grant Consortium will meet to discuss and collaborate around grant implementation through the lens of MTSS. Together, we will collaboratively explore the components of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports). Guided by the NYSED MTSS-I Pilot, we will investigate and design systems and structures. Our focus will be on exploring effective implementation strategies and utilizing data to enhance school and district practices. This group aims to share experiences, best practices, and develop tools to empower faculty and staff in meeting the unique needs of every student through the structures and guidelines provided by the RECOVS Mental Health Grant.

BY INVITATION ONLY - JOIN WAIT LIST. This course will provide essential tools for communicating with Spanish-speaking students, parents, and school personnel regarding aspects of school life and education which are mostly used to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and their parents. The communicative approach of the course focuses on developing communicative competence. Participants will start speaking from day one, and get personalized feedback by submitting audio recordings and attending optional office hours.

This first level, Newcomers course, is for participants who do not have any proficiency to communicate in Spanish. There will be twenty-two (22) Tuesday sessions: 6-7 PM and "optional" individualized office hours. Each completed session will award 1 CTLE credit to each participant. Attending each session is highly recommended but not mandatory.

Examples of content to be covered:
* Greeting, introduction, and farewell expressions
* Information parents need to enroll their children in school; talking about age; school personnel
* Family; capitals in South and Central America
* In the cafeteria; food
* Days, months, dates, holidays
* Colors, curriculum, weather
* Enlisting parents' support (This will be mentioned briefly in the first session but covered in more detail towards the end of the course.)

This professional learning workshop series is a collaboration between the PNW BOCES School Library System and the Hudson Valley Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (HV RBERN). It is designed to promote teamwork between ENL teachers and School Librarians from the same school or district. School Librarians and ENL teachers should register to attend together as a team for all sessions.

Participants will collaborate to develop a special event or new initiative for ELLs that includes literacy components and recognition of their students' achievements. Participants will be provided with strategies and support to help them develop a strong foundation for a successful partnership. Participants will explore AI resources and gain an understanding of how to embed AI into instruction.

School Librarians and ENL teachers working together can provide powerful learning opportunities and resources for English Language Learners and their families. We invite you to attend this workshop series to learn more about each other's areas of expertise and begin building a new partnership that benefits your ELLs. This activity is eligible for ELL CTLE credit.

This second level, Beginners course, is targeted for basic users who can interact in a simple way; asking and answering simple questions about themselves, initiating and responding to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics, use simple everyday forms of greeting and address, and can handle very short social exchanges (eg.: asking and answering questions about what people do at work and in their free time, etc.).

There will be twenty-two (22) Thursday sessions; 6-7 PM and "optional" individualized office hours. Each completed session will award 1 CTLE credit to each participant. Attending each session is highly recommended but not mandatory.

We will cover the same content as Newcomers but in more depth and speed, and there will be a differentiation according to the level of proficiency of each participant.

9. 2024-25 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Leaders' Action Network

Program: 2024-2025 - (DEI) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

This professional learning workshop is designed to support school district teams in identifying, developing, and executing an initiative to create equitable systems within their districts. The Culturally Responsive & Sustaining Education Framework, will anchor our work to - "create student-centered learning environments that: affirm racial, linguistic and cultural identities; prepare students for rigor and independent learning; develop students' abilities to connect across lines of difference; elevate historically marginalized voices; and empower students as agents of social change.” Each participating district is strongly encouraged to register as a team of at least two members and up to 5. Together, participants will LEARN, SHARE and ACT on a new initiative or grow an existing one, that supports your district's vision to create inclusive school communities. We will provide strategies and support to help build a solid foundation for successful implementation. The intentional collaboration among various stakeholders ensures that this work is a shared responsibility, reinforcing the idea that creating equitable educational environments is a collective effort.

Network Goals:
- Ground our work in NYSED's CRSE Framework and NYSED's DEI Policy
- Identify an area of focus and implement action steps to support your district's DEI initiative
- Contribute to Network resources

Network Members:
- While the DEI Leaders' Network is open to all engaged in DEI practice, we strongly encourage you to register as a team of at least two members and up to 5
- Members serve as "leaders” in the broadest definition of the term.
- Members are expected to bring ideas back to their districts, schools, and/or classrooms

11. Early Learning (PK-3) Educators Network

Join us for collaborative learning experiences with colleagues who are dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of Early Learners (PK-3) across all content areas. Together we will explore best practices, theories, and innovative approaches to early childhood education. Title: Resilience Strategies for Educators (RSE): Techniques for Self-Care and Peer Support TtT Live Training

Learn resilience strategies that you can use to increase your ability to work more effectively within a school community impacted by stress, loss, and trauma caused by a variety of emergencies, including, but not limited to , community or family violence, natural and man-made disasters, and/or economic hardship. Important concepts covered include dimensions of compassion fatigue, professional and personal self-care plans, and Psychological First Aid. This training can assist schools in their health, social, emotional, and behavioral recovery efforts before, during, or after an emergency event. It prompts participants to assess their wellness and strategize how they can maintain a work-life balance to promote recovery and healing.

This foundational workshop introduces educators to Bridging, a key component of the Center for Teaching for Biliteracy's Framework. Participants will explore what bridging is, its role in dual language instruction, and how it looks in the classroom. Through guided discussions and classroom examples, educators will analyze how the Bridge supports cross-linguistic transfer, metalinguistic awareness, and biliteracy development. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of the principles of Bridging and be prepared to apply them in their own classrooms.

    Gizmos are online simulations for math and science topics, grades 3-12.     Long-Term English Learners (LTELs) face challenges due to limited access to grade-level curriculum and lack of targeted support, often resulting in low academic achievement and higher dropout rates.

    Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to adolescents (ages 12-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. Participants are taught an action plan that they can apply to non-crisis and crisis situations.

    The course includes 2 hours of self-paced (asynchronous) remote learning, which will be emailed to participants to complete in advance of the scheduled session, which consists of 4.5 hours of synchronous real-time learning via Zoom, plus a 30-minute break.

    By the end of the course, participants will be able to:




    • Describe the purpose of Youth Mental Health First Aid and the role of the Youth Mental Health First Aider.



    • Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges that may impact youth.



    • Explain the impact of traumatic experiences and the role of resilience on adolescent development.

    *PLCS, in conversation with NYSED and in response to changes to APPR, has redesigned our Lead Evaluator Training Program. We have designed half-day three hour sessions that you can choose from to design your own Lead Evaluator program. These sessions meet NYSED expectations for APPR Lead Evaluator recertification.

    All leaders new to their district or role will need to attend our Foundations in Leading Leaders session to meet the requirements for NYSED's Lead Evaluator Training. Please check your district's APPR plan to determine the number of days/hours approved by NYSED for your district's Lead Evaluator Training.

Lori DeCarlo of Restorative Edge Consulting will lead this interactive series to provide training to educators in the use of restorative practices designed to support social-emotional learning and mental health.

    The training will focus on:


    • Restorative practices as a trauma-informed approach for creating a culture of belonging, safety, and inclusion


    • Responsive restorative practices, including Affective Communication/Non-Violent Communication, Tier 2 Whole Group Responsive Circles, and Tier 2 Restorative Circles to respond to specific incidents of harm.


    • Restorative Discipline: how to embed restorative practices into discipline, including:
    ---Creating a restorative classroom as an alternative to out of school suspension,
    ---Exploring how to use a restorative intervention known as the 5 Step Plan,
    ---Learning how to facilitate a Tier 3 Restorative Conferences for serious disciplinary incidents,
