Subject areas include the strategies for promoting; a comfortable learning environment, positive reinforcement, icebreakers, learning and literacy centers, organization skills for teacher and student, bulletin boards successful subject area lessons (math, language arts, social studies, science, art, music, physical education), and overall meaningful teaching and learning strategies. The course contains hundreds of activities and lessons that all teachers can access; and illustrates ways all students can participate in them.

This 3 credit online course is designed to focus explicitly on inclusive classrooms and provides unique suggestions for meeting the needs of students with disabilities, including those with learning, cognitive, and sensory differences. This course contains hundreds of familiar novel activities that all students can access; and illustrates ways all students can participate in them. Active and collaborative activities we will explore include; building teams and classroom communities, teaching and learning, studying and reviewing, creating active lectures and assessing and celebrating. These skills will be presented by the participants through discussion following each forum topic. The participant will be able to promote relationship building and interdependence, help students teach one another as they make discoveries about course content, support learners in preparing for assessments, engage whole-class learning while assisting students who need personalized instruction, and assess learner understanding. Participants will share ideas and strategies with one another by replying to at least 2 to 3 participants per panel. Participants will be given carious activities and lessons to respond to and determine proper adaptations to be made in the classroom environment. the activities presented reflect graduate level work by encouraging the use of prior knowledge in the classroom and past experiences, examining and restructuring teaching techniques in order to be successful and confident in the classroom setting. All participants will need to purchase a book for this course.

This day is split into two professional learning opportunities. (1) From 8:30 AM to Noon, attendees will have a chance to network with fellow Science Educators from around the Luzerne Intermediate Unit region. (2) Jennifer Weibert, from Weibert Science, will be joining us virtually to share her expertise in using student notebooks as a learning tool. She will be presenting from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This is an opportunity provided by PDE, meaning that adjusting the late running time is not possible. It is not a problem if you need to leave before the event concludes. Lunch will not be provided. However, you will have ample time to visit any of the restaurants in our area. Each participant will receive a teacher's guide to support their use of notebooks in the Science classroom.
