This session will review the areas to be verified before the first day of school to ensure the system is ready to perform typical functions (i.e. Attendance, Scheduling, Grading, etc.) for the upcoming school year as expected. Start of Year Readiness tasks must be completed for each active building school level after End of Year Rollover tasks have been completed first.

To support Start of Year Readiness, this session will review the Calendar and Configuration screens found under Maintenance > School Year, which must be set every school year for each building and school level. The School Year submodule is where dates are set for semesters, marking periods and progress reports, dates that are outside of the normal academic cycle for each school year as well as configuring cycle day schemes, defining special cycle days and entering cycle day overrides for dates that will follow a different Period Maintenance than a typical instructional day.

Participants will receive templates for documenting district data flows, along with guided time and support to customize them for their district. This work supports multiple NIST CSF subcategories, particularly within the Identify, Protect, and Govern functions.
