Generative AI is transforming how students approach writing-and how teachers design assignments. This self-paced course empowers educators to create authentic, process-rich writing tasks that preserve student voice while leveraging AI responsibly. Through practical strategies, real-world examples, and hands-on design work, you'll learn to:
Align tasks to NYSED HS ELA standards
Build AI guardrails for ethical, transparent student use
Redesign assignments to be AI-resilient and AI-enabled
Adapt rubrics to reward revision, originality, and integrity
What you'll produce: A fully developed, authentic writing assignment with clear AI guidelines, ready to implement in your classroom.

This course is 100% online and will take approximately 3 hours to complete. This course begins on December 1, 2025, and participants have until December 8, 2025, to complete all required assignments and activities to receive CTLE credit.
