As educators, we know that learning is a lifelong adventure that does not stop once we earn our degrees. Research is clear: ongoing professional development increases teacher effectiveness and contributes to a culture of learning and a community of belonging. According to the principles of Andragogy, adult learners bring knowledge and life experience, seeking to apply these lessons in new environments while addressing a variety of needs that differ from those of student learners. The What, Why, and How of our professional development opportunities have the power to persuade and transform both people and systems. We also recognize that many of us find ourselves in positions requiring us to plan, lead, and facilitate professional learning experiences without much training or guidance on how to do this effectively. The Staff Development Academy is designed to build the capacity of leaders in all forms of professional development, including meetings, presentations, and coaching experiences. Participants will learn a variety of concepts and skills to support them in these roles, regardless of their title or position. Creating and maintaining a community of belonging is essential for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all members feel valued and connected. This sense of belonging enhances collaboration, boosts morale, and promotes a positive culture that benefits both educators and students. By participating in the Staff Development Academy, leaders will not only enhance their professional skills but also contribute to building a stronger, more cohesive educational community. 24. Dignity for All Students Act: Required Training for Certification/Licensure (Teachers, Administrators, Teaching Assistants, Coaches, etc)

Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act or DASA) Workshop: Six hour training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention. New York State's Dignity Act seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. This training is designed to fulfill that requirement.

This is a two-part DASA workshop that must be completed in sequence, part one must be completed in order to attend part two.

Part One is a fully virtual, self-paced module consisting of approximately four hours of content, including videos, articles, reflection activities, and data analysis. Use the link below to get started with part 1.

Part Two is an in-person session designed to deepen participants' understanding through collaborative discussion and application. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and expand upon concepts introduced in Part One.

Tuition is $100.00 for employees of district which subscribe to the Oswego BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Tuition is $125.00 for all other attendees.

25. Trauma-Informed Restorative Supports & Interventions

You will choose the session date that works best for you; up to 6 sessions for a total of 12 hours. When Students Struggle to Regulate, Teachers Need Practical Tools That Work Behavior needs across our elementary schools continue to grow, and with that growth comes the very real challenge of meeting students' needs while supporting your own well-being as an educator. Teaching Practical Regulation & Restoration Skills for Elementary Students is designed to support you with practical tools, shared problem-solving, and collaborative curriculum writing so you are not doing this work alone. Through this series, you will strengthen your confidence and consistency in responding to challenging behaviors using trauma-informed and restorative practices. Together, we will focus on strategies that promote dignity, accountability, and strong relationships-while ensuring they are realistic, effective, and classroom-ready. Across six two-hour sessions, you will collaborate to develop strategies and resoruces to effecitvely support all students. There are six sessions (each session offered twice). Participants must attend session 1 in order to attend any of the others, but only session 1 is required.

Join us to participate in an Authentic Learning Experience Kickoff! (Cohort 1) Day 1- Intro to Authentic Learning. The day will be for experiencing and learning more about what Authentic learning looks like, feels like, sounds like. We will explore essential design elements and teaching practices to ensure students are gaining the skills they need. Day 2- Design workshop to align the elements of learning in your specific Authentic Learning Experience. This day will include tuning protocols in order to provide feedback. Day 3- Celebration of Learning to share results and learning from the Authentic Learning Experience. - *Individual coaching will be available for teams throughout the Experience. - **Teams of 2 or more teachers are required for registration. - Authentic Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. It is recommended that all projects include a focus on these success skills: critical thinking/problem solving, collaboration, and self-management. Projects may also help build other skills, habits of mind and work, and personal qualities (such as perseverance or creativity), based on what teachers, schools, parents and communities value, but the fundamental ability to think critically, solve problems, work with others and manage oneself and one's own work are crucial stepping stones to future success.

32. Time for Change: Four Essential Skills for Transformational School and District Leaders

During this workshop, participants will learn to become a catalyst for school improvement by developing the skills of a transformational leader.
