1. Special Education Boot Camp

2. Paraprofessional Training

The purpose of this paraprofessional training is to define major responsibilities of a paraprofessional in the educational setting, confidentiality, communication, teamwork, behavior management, and ways to prompt students, etc. We will review the special education process in order to develop a basic understanding of the process and how students are found eligibile and discuss how to best support the students with whom paraprofessionals work. The cost is $50 and includes parking and lunch. Training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 P.M.

"MAP-A for All Professionals” learning builds participant knowledge in the process of completing the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) for our students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Teachers learn to utilize the process and components of this assessment, including the use of the educator portal, to embed the essential elements from the DLM into daily instructional opportunities for students. This process builds student knowledge and capacity to demonstrate growth on the summative version of the MAP-A. We will meet in Hill Hall room 402 at Missouri State University. Parking and lunch included in price.

5. New to Special Education: So Much to Learn!

This basic training is developed with new special education professionals in mind and focuses on the areas of most common noncompliance including, but not limited to, discipline, IEP development and evaluations/reevaluations. Provides hands-on training using the model forms, the Standards and Indicators Manual and the State Plan for Special Education. (This does not meet the credentialing requirements for Beginning Teacher Assistance Program) Day 1 will include an overview of the special education processes and timelines, where to find vital information/resources on the DESE website to assist you, Quality IEP training including SMART goals and Standards Based goals, Specially Designed Instruction, and some High Leverage Practices. These two days will just give you some background knowledge to hopefully help you understand what your director and/or process coordinator are talking about when you are working with them. This is a TWO day training and you MUST attend BOTH days! We will meet in Hill Hall in Room 402 on September 17th and October 14th. The cost is $70 and includes parking and lunch for BOTH days. Training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 PM.

7. I am the Process Coordinator! Now What?

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Missouri State University - Hill Hall (Springfield, MO)

Dates: 10/1/2025 to 2/12/2026

Join me on October 1st and February 12th as we discuss how process coordinators can best support special education teachers. We will discuss organization for the PC and how they can organize their teachers, talk about process items such as referrals, REDs, assessments, interpretation of assessments, eligibility, and IEPs. Cost is $70 and includes two days of training with lunch and parking provided. This is a two day commitment so please make sure you are available both of these dates when you sign up. Training will be Hill Hall in Room 402 on both days. The enrollment is limited to 25, the room capacity will not allow anymore. Parking pass will be emailed to you prior to the training.

8. Developing Quality Standards-based IEPs

In the post-Endrew F. world, Individual Education Program (IEPs) teams must write IEPs designed to help students make meaningful progress. Learn the art of developing IEPs in which the present level of academic and functional performance forms a solid foundation for writing SMARTgoals connected to learning standards, describing specially designed instruction, and designing classroom accommodations and modifications. Additionally, participants will learn how to involve parents in the process and review all timelines that must be met to remain in compliance. We will meet on Oct. 6th MSU in the Plaster Student Union Rm 314. The cost is $35 and includes lunch. Training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 PM.

9. Cohort 2 Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Training

Districts who were in Cohort 2 and completed their Special Education Self-Assessment Tiered Monitoring last year will be notified in mid-September of any Corrective Actions they received. This training is designed to provide professional development over the Standards and Indicators called out of compliance in our region. This will fulfill a training component of your CAPs and will assist you in being able to go back and provide professional development on the Indicators your district was called out on. There will be will be from 9:00 a.m-12:00 p.m.. This will be a virtual training.

10. Special Education Eligibility: Making Quality Eligibility Determinations

The focus of this workshop will be on the evaluation process from pre-referral to eligibility. We will look at how decisions are being made regarding which students to evaluate, how to determine what information needs to be gathered through assessments and then how to use that information in eligibility decisions. Information regarding the content of evaluation reports, based on the standards and indicators, will also be included. The training will be held on October 15 at MSU in the Plaster Student Union, room 308. The training will begin at 9:00 AM and end by 3:00 PM. Cost is $35 and includes lunch and parking.

11. Special Education Compliance Monitoring Self-Assessment Training

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

This training is designed for districts who will going through self-assessment during 2025-2026 (Cohort 3). This will be a full day training designed to assist public agencies in preparation for their Special Education Tiered Monitoring review process. The training will describe the self-assessment process and the use of the IMACS 2.0 system. During the morning session, we will go over the indicators that will be part of the self-assessment and discuss ways to ensure compliance with those indicators. After lunch, a DESE Compliance Supervisor will join us and we will go over the technical aspects of self-assessment and how to use IMACS 2.0 properly to complete the required activities. We will begin at 9:00 AM and the day will end by 3:00 at the latest. Cost is $35 per person and includes lunch and parking. We will meet at Missouri State University, Plaster Student Union, Room 313. Parking passes will be emailed to you to print and put in your vehicle prior to the workshop.

12. Special Education New Directors' Group

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Missouri State University - Hill Hall (Springfield, MO)

Dates: 10/23/2025

The New Directors' Group will meet periodically throughout the school year to discuss a variety of topics and build relationships with other new directors. You will register for each session individually (10/23/2025, 01/22/2026 & 03/5/2026) so look for all three of the dates in Frontline to register for what you are able to attend. You do not have to attend all three - you may pick and choose based on your schedule. This enrollment is for the first training October 23rd, which will be a full day training held at MSU in Hill Hall Room 402 from 9:00 to 3:00. The cost of this training will be $35 to cover parking and working lunch. We will plan to discuss referrals, evaluation reports, eligibility. We will have a Q & A for any issues you are experiencing at the time.

13. Transition Academy: Prepping Students for Life

How do I prepare my student(s) to transition to the next phase of life? Participants will learn to use valuable resources to support students in the college or career readiness planning process for their future. The Transition Academy is designed to help educators plan for college and career readiness and positive postsecondary outcomes for students with an lEP. The components to be addressed during the academy are lndicator 13, the transition compliance portion of the student's lEP, how to plan for post-secondary outcomes and the framework and practice of how to include self-determination strategies and skills during instruction. Specific components provided in greater detail will be Transition Assessments and Services and to teach students to participate in the planning process of their future. The cost is $70 and includes parking and lunch for BOTH days. Training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 P.M. Both days will be at Hill Hall Room 402 on MSU campus. Directions and parking passes will be emailed before the workshop.

14. How to Collect Data and Progress Monitor to Drive Specially Designed Instruction

Data, Data, Data: How do I collect it? What do I do with it? Participants will gain an understanding of progress monitoring, learn a variety of ways to collect specific data, and how to use it to drive instruction and accommodations and/or modifications for each individual student. We will meet on November 6th at MSU- Hill Hall Room 402. The cost is $35 and includes parking and lunch. Training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 PM.

15. Manifestation Determination and Alternatives to Suspension

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Audience: administrators and special education directors

This training will provide alternatives to suspension that help keep struggling students engaged in the academic environment. For circumstances requiring removal, Compliance Consultants will provide guidance on the data to review when making a manifestation determination, as well as how to document suspensions while remaining compliant with IDEA. This workshop is intended for administrators and special education directors. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30. Lunch and parking are included.
