1. Navigating Elementary Behaviors

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

This full day workshop is designed to help elementary teachers support students with big behaviors. Teachers will gain strategies in the following areas: proactive classroom management, function based thinking, responding to students during and after behaviors, communicating with parents, and addressing missing behavioral skills. This workshop is designed for any elementary teacher supporting students with big behaviors. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30.Lunch and parking are included.

4. Reset Rooms

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Plaster Student Union, MSU Campus (Springfield, MO) [map]

Audience: administrators, special education directors, behavior interventionists, counselors, other individuals working with challenging behaviors

New Date! This workshop will focus on the use of Reset Rooms in the school setting. Reset Rooms offer a designated space for students to de-escalate, regulate emotions, and practice self-management skills. Participants will learn how to establish an environment and structure that will successfully allow students to return to the education environment as quickly as possible. This workshop is designed for districts of all sizes and is targeted towards building and special education administrators, counselors, behavior interventionist, or other individuals interested in learning more about the use of Reset Rooms. Participants will also gain access to materials that will support the effectiveness of this intervention. Registration and a  light breakfast will begin at 8:30. Lunch and parking are included.

5. Function Based Thinking

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Missouri State University - Hill Hall (Springfield, MO)

Audience: special education teachers, regular education teachers, paras, counselors, administrators and/or any team member working with students with challenging behaviors

Dates: 10/16/2025

This workshop will explore how all behavior is a form of communication and serves a purpose. Participants will learn the principles of behavior change, methods for teaching replacement behaviors, and strategies for weakening undesired behavior. Participants will explore the four functions of behavior (Sensory, Escape, Attention, Tangible), and interventions that address each function. The workshop format will allow participants to process a specific student, examine the function of behavior, and leave with strategies to begin to immediately apply. This workshop is designed for special education teachers, regular education teachers, paras, counselors, administrators and/or any team member working with students with challenging behaviors. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30. Lunch and parking are included.

6. Behavior Leaders: Behavioral Best Practices and Networking for Supporting Teachers and Students

This workshop is designed to provide school leaders an opportunity to collaborate with neighboring administrators on topics surrounding student behaviors. The following topics will be discussed as they relate to an increase in behaviors: the use of ISS and OSS, protecting instructional integrity in the classroom, training the influx of new teachers, alternatives to suspension, and supporting students and teachers. This networking time will allow additional opportunities for participants to discuss/problem solve behavioral topics relevant to their district. This workshop is designed for superintendents, special education directors, building leaders or any individual in a leadership role. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30. 7. Functional Behavior Assessment & Behavior Intervention Plan

This workshop offers a step-by-step guide to completing thorough and successful FBA and BIPs for IEP students experiencing severe behaviors. Participants will receive information on how to successfully: * Use data to determine target behaviors and create a functional hypothesis * Analyze ABC data to determine the function of behavior and choose the best antecedent and consequence interventions. * Write an FBA and BIP Participants will receive examples of forms to use throughout the FBA and BIP process. This session is designed for Special Education Teachers, Process Coordinators, Administrators, or others conducting FBAs on IEP students. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30. Lunch and parking are included.

8. Manifestation Determination and Alternatives to Suspension

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

This training will provide alternatives to suspension that help keep struggling students engaged in the academic environment. For circumstances requiring removal, Compliance Consultants will provide guidance on the data to review when making a manifestation determination, as well as how to document suspensions while remaining compliant with IDEA. This workshop is intended for administrators and special education directors. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 8:30. Lunch and parking are included.

This workshop will help participants choose and implement interventions proven to be effective for students experiencing severe behaviors. This training will discuss multiple strategies for behavior change, including antecedent interventions (changes to the environment), teaching replacement behaviors, and altering consequences. Participants will gain knowledge in how to match interventions to the four functions driving behavior (sensory, escape, attention and tangible). This workshop is designed for special education teachers, regular education teachers, paras, counselors, administrators and/or any team member working with students with challenging behaviors.
