25. Evidence Based Practices for Students with Severe Behaviors

This workshop will help participants choose and implement interventions proven to be effective for students experiencing severe behaviors. This training will discuss multiple strategies for behavior change, including antecedent interventions (changes to the environment), teaching replacement behaviors, and altering consequences. Participants will gain knowledge in how to match interventions to the four functions driving behavior (sensory, escape, attention and tangible). This partnership agreement and commitment consists of: -scheduling and participating in the initial training on Frontline through your RPDC (a half day training) and using the contact information provided during the training to arrange additional support as needed. -committing to meeting with and communicating with your local literacy team on a scheduled basis to have the collaborative conversations needed to complete the Comprehensive Literacy Needs Assessment in order to advance the CLP progress. -accepting and scheduling RPDC check-in support (see virtual dates and times already provided in the Frontline information) as the literacy team works through the CLNA to develop a CLP to communicate progress and troubleshoot issues. RPDC facilitators will host 4 meetings (two in-person, two virtual) and participants must attend the initial meeting and at least two other meetings. These may be regional or local. -communicating to local stakeholders the outcome and goals of the CLP and the next steps. We recommend that LEAs send at least two representatives from their district from either their literacy team, building leadership, or administration.

94. Special Education Eligibility: Making Quality Eligibility Determinations

The focus of this workshop will be on the evaluation process from pre-referral to eligibility. We will look at how decisions are being made regarding which students to evaluate, how to determine what information needs to be gathered through assessments, observations and then how to use that information in eligibility decisions. Information regarding the content of evaluation reports, based on the standards and indicators, will also be included. The training will be a 2-day training. The training will begin at 9:00 AM and end by 3:00 PM. Cost is $60.00 and includes lunch and parking.

95. Cohort 3 Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Technical Assistance Workshop

If you are a Cohort 3 district that just received your Tiered Monitoring results and are now saying what next? - This is the workshop for you. Cohort 3 Districts with identified areas of noncompliance must complete specific action steps during the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Year. This session provides technical assistance on how to write and submit plans of correction, complete the required activities for clearing areas of noncompliance, and provide evidence of correction. Participants will need laptops and User Manager access in IMACs 2.0. One/one technical assistance will be available for writing plans of correction. We will begin at 9:00 AM, and the day will end by 12:00 p.m. Cost is $25 per person and includes a morning snack and parking pass. We will meet at Missouri State University, Hill Hall, Room 402. Parking passes will be emailed to you to print and put in your vehicle before the workshop. This workshop will explore how all behavior is a form of communication and serves a purpose. Participants will learn the principles of behavior change, methods for teaching replacement behaviors, and strategies for weakening undesired behavior. Participants will explore the four functions of behavior (Sensory, Escape, Attention, Tangible), and interventions that address each function. The workshop format will allow participants to process a specific student, examine the function of behavior, and leave with strategies to begin to immediately apply. This workshop is designed for special education teachers, regular education teachers, paras, counselors, administrators and/or any team member working with students with challenging behaviors.
