This Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Conference will begin with registration check in from
8:30 - 9:00 and then proceed to Opening remarks at 9:00. After 20 minute introduction, participants will either head to their pre selected workshop or to the viewing of the film, "The Kids we Lose". Please remember to scroll through choices to select a workshop for each time period. If you are planning to view the film and follow up panel discussion in the morning (Option A), be sure to select "No Workshop" for the 9:25 and 10:40 time slot.
The Conference will include a video screening of "The Kids we Lose." It is a 90 minute documentary film about the human side of being a child or student with behavioral challenges and the struggles faced by parents, educators, and other professionals in trying to ensure that these children receive the help they need. There will be a panel discussion supporting current NYS guidelines as they pertain to SEL. In addition, there will be a variety of morning workshops for those opting out of the video as well as a number of afternoon workshops covering social awareness, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills our students need to establish and maintain positive relationship.
