Conference Information

Autism Spectrum Disorder Conference: "Support Through Transitions"

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have unique needs and getting information about how to support these children as they transition from home, to school, and to adulthood is critical. Experts in this field will share their expertise in this free Saturday conference. This conference will start with a keynote titled: Transition across the Spectrum: Preparing our Students with ASD for "Adulting". Tina Marie Covington, from the Anderson Center for Autism, will discuss how preparation for life as an adult with autism begins with good early childhood education, how evidenced based instructional design and natural environment teaching opportunities prepare children for transition, and how the dignity of risk (saying goodbye to helicopter parenting) can build resilient young adults on the spectrum.

The keynote will be followed by two breakout sessions with a choice of three workshops in each session. The workshops are listed below. There is limited space in these breakout workshops, only the first 120 conference attendees can register.
